Russell County Hospital’s annual Community Health Screening program is underway this week, offering low-cost blood tests and health screenings for area residents.
The screenings are being held each morning through Saturday, August 1, from 7:00 until 9:00 a.m. at the Russell Springs Elementary School gym.
For $20, participants can receive a complete blood count, chemistry profile including glucose, lipid profile including cholesterol and a thyroid profile. Men can also add a prostate cancer screening, or PSA blood test, for an additional $15.
Hospital officials encourage participants to fast after midnight before their screening for the most accurate results. Registration will take place upon arrival, and attendees are reminded there may be a short wait.
New this year, residents may attend on any of the six screening dates, and free stroke screenings will also be available.
Lab results will be available for pickup Saturday, August 8, from 8:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Russell County Hospital. Those unable to pick up their results that day may do so afterward through the hospital’s laboratory.
The screening site is located at Russell Springs Elementary School, 1554 U.S. Highway 127, with parking available behind the gym entrance. Credit cards, debit cards, checks and cash will all be accepted.
