Russell County EMS is partnering with Dr. Lynda Wilkerson of The Support Agency to provide free Deterra Drug Deactivation pouches to the community.
The pouches offer a safe and convenient way to dispose of unneeded medications at home, including pills, patches, liquids, creams and films.
To use the pouch, place the medication inside, add warm water, seal and gently shake it before placing it in the household trash.
Free pouches are available at the Russell County EMS office Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The project is funded through the Kentucky Opioid Abatement Advisory Commission and the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office.
