The Kentucky Legislature voted yesterday to override a veto from Governor Andy Beshear on a bill that would lower the age requirement to obtain a concealed carry license.
Under House Bill 312, those between 18 and 20-years-old could obtain a provisional license, as opposed to a standard license, which would allow them to conceal carry firearms, ammunition and other deadly weapons.
The current law states that a person must be at least 21 years of age to obtain a concealed carry license.
Under the bill, applicants would have to pass a background check and complete firearms training.
Representative Josh Branscum and Senator Rick Girdler voted in favor of overriding the Governor’s veto.
