A bill that could return driver’s license renewals and duplicates to county offices has passed through the Kentucky Senate.
Charles Baglan files this report with details on Senate Bill 7, sponsored by Senator Aaron Reed of Shelbyville and co-sponsored by multiple senators including Senator Rick Girdler who represents Russell County.
Under the legislation, drivers would still have to go to a regional office, such as the one in Columbia or Somerset, for an initial license.
The bill would include a $25 convenience fee for renewals at county offices.
The bill passed through the Senate by a vote of 34-1. It now heads to the state house of representatives.
