Russell Springs Man Accused of Stealing More Than $12,000 from Employer

A Russell Springs man is facing a felony theft charge following an investigation by the Russell Springs Police Department.

James Curtis Cox, 66, was arrested Tuesday around 2:50 p.m. by Russell Springs Police Officer Brenton Lane on a warrant obtained by Lieutenant Bobby Pritchard. Cox is charged with theft by unlawful taking over $10,000.

According to the criminal complaint, Cox is accused of taking more than $12,000 from a cash register at Lawless & Smith Hardware in Russell Springs, where he was employed.

Cox was processed and lodged in the Russell County Detention Center. The case remains under investigation by the Russell Springs Police Department.
