Russell County authorities conducted an extensive ground and underwater search Wednesday after receiving information that a body might be located in Greasy Creek near the old bridge.
The Russell County Sheriff’s Department led the search with assistance from Russell County Search and Rescue. Crews utilized boats, cadaver dogs and dive teams as they searched the area.
Officials told WJRS NEWS that two cadaver dogs independently alerted in the same location, prompting authorities to call in divers to conduct an underwater search.
Despite an extensive search both on land and in the water, no body was found.
Authorities said no one has been reported missing in Russell County in recent weeks. However, officials said the information they received was considered credible enough to warrant the large-scale search effort.
No additional information has been released, and authorities have not indicated whether any further searches are planned.
