Jamestown Elementary earns yellow rating on state assessment

Jamestown Elementary received an overall yellow rating based on scores from last year’s state assessment.

A yellow rating is the middle rating of five color categories given by the state. Blue is the highest color rating, followed by green, yellow, orange, and red.

Jamestown Elementary earned an orange rating in the combined reading and math indicator, but earned a green rating for the science, social studies, and writing indicator.

Jamestown Elementary students outpaced state average in the percentage of students scoring proficient or distinguished in science, social studies and combined writing.

In science, 44 percent of Jamestown Elementary students scored proficient or distinguished – 7 percent higher than state average.

In social studies, 43 percent scored proficient or distinguished – 5 percent higher than state average.

In combined writing, 51 percent scored proficient or distinguished – 8 percent higher than state average.

In reading, 45 percent of Jamestown Elementary students scored proficient or distinguished – 4 percent lower than state average.

In math, 42 percent of Jamestown students scored proficient or distinguished – one percent below state average.
