A Russell Springs man was indicted by a grand jury today on 30 charges of wanton endangerment related to a shots fired incident at the Russell Springs City Park over Labor Day weekend.
A Russell County grand jury met in special session and handed up 30 indictments against 38-year-old Brian Stephens of Russell Springs.
According to the indictment, on August 31, Stephens fired a high-powered rifle in the direction of the Russell Springs City Park, where numerous people, including minor children, were present.
Multiple youth sports teams were playing at the park that day, and the park was cleared as law enforcement investigated the scene.
According to reports from witnesses at the park, someone at the park was carrying a metal folding chair near the bottom field at the park and the chair was struck by a bullet.
The case was presented to the grand jury by Kentucky State Police.
