Rain expected today, but likely won’t have much impact on dry conditions

Rain is in the forecast today, but it’s not expected to make much of a dent in the dry conditions across Russell County.

The latest update from the U.S. Drought Monitor lists Russell County and much of south-central Kentucky as abnormally dry. Looking ahead, forecasters say the region will stay mostly dry through the rest of the week.

Without more consistent rainfall, those dry conditions could expand or worsen in the coming days.

The U.S. Drought Monitor will release its next update on Thursday.
