Assistance available at courthouse for those impacted by tornado

Assistance is available at the Russell County Courthouse for those impacted by the tornado.

A Disaster Recovery Center is set up in the basement of the Russell County Courthouse, with personnel from FEMA, American Red Cross, and the Small Business Administration available to assist.

Russell County Emergency Management Director Michael Tojo Bray said anyone who was impacted from the tornado can apply for individual assistance. This includes people who lost power for multiple days and may have lost food or had to stay somewhere else while the power was out.

The courthouse Disaster Recovery Center is open from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. and will be open through Saturday. Those visiting the disaster center can enter through the front doors of the courthouse and take the stairs or elevator to the basement.
