The National Weather Service has upgraded the Russell County tornado Friday night from an EF-2 to an EF-3.
The tornado impacted the eastern portion of the county, particularly the Gosser Ridge and Eli communities.
The weather service said in a statement that wind speeds reached around 140 miles per hour.
The weather service said this information is still preliminary and theyare waiting to hear of potential additional damage reports which would extend the path back to the west.
