Russell County Judge Executive Randy Marcum has declared a state of emergency following this weekend’s tornado.
The state of emergency was declared due to severe damage in the area.
Russell County Judge Executive Randy Marcum said it was all hands on deck for county workers and first responders in the aftermath of this weekend’s tornado.
Marcum said he was traveling through Somerset as storms were making their way through the area when he received a call from Joe Branscum with the Eli Fire Department about the impact in the area.
Marcum praised the work of local first responders and county employees for their quick response.
Marcum said he visited the areas hardest hit by the tornado on Saturday and said it was devastating. He said he was glad to see so many neighbors helping with cleanup efforts and said several organizations and other counties have reached out to assist any way they can.
