Eli Fire Chief provides update following last night’s storms

Eli Volunteer Fire Department Chief Marty Kazsuk provided WJRS News an update following last night’s  major storms.

Heavy damage from 1611 at Jonah Kelsey Rd and Sunshine Rd. Moving east. Several houses with heavy damage, some barns destroyed, and several campers flipped.

We had one injury in Eli area. A male subject was inside a camper that flipped. He was transported to Russell Co. Hospital by EMS.

Lower part of Gosser Ridge received heavy damage. Stillwater area, homes and barns on Gosser ridge at John Roy Ln. Homes heavily damaged, barns, and farm equipment damaged and some destroyed. One male subject was extricated from a house by Eli Fire and RCEMS personnel and transported to hospital by RCEMS.

We have performed secondary searches of all damaged areas. Red Cross is standing by and Eli VFD will be working with RC Emergency Management and Rescue Squad to complete damage assessments in the daylight.

The National Weather Service will be sending out a team to assess damage in the Eli and Gosser Ridge communities today.
