Laker Sports Report 5-13

The Middle School girls soccer team was in district tournament action last night. Russell County defeated Casey County 1–0. Jayde Lawless scored the only goal of the night, and Madeline Campbell had five saves. Russell County will take on Southern tonight at 6:00 p.m.

The Laker Boys Tennis team will be in regional tournament action this evening. The Lakers are set to face South Warren at 5:30 p.m. at South Warren High School.

Due to weather, the Lady Laker softball team’s game was canceled last night. Russell County will be back at home today, taking on the Larue County Hawks. First pitch is set for 5:30 p.m.

The Mighty Laker Baseball team was originally scheduled to play Frederick Douglass last night, but due to weather, they faced Green County instead. The Lakers defeated the Dragons 6–0. Jack Shearer had two RBIs, while Carter Stapp, Mayes Gosser, Tanner Stringer, and Walker Stephens each added one. Owen Loy earned the win on the mound, recording four strikeouts. Russell County is back in action this evening as they take on Casey County on the road. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m.

The Russell County Middle School Baseball team will play for the CKMSAC Tournament Championship this evening. Lakers take on Campbellsville at David Rexroat Field. First pitch is set for 5:30 this evening.
