Russell County sees decrease in overdose deaths

Fewer than five overdose deaths were reported in Russell County in 2024.

The annual report released by the Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet does not provide a specific number when overdose deaths are below 5 in a year.

That’s a decrease from 6 overdose deaths reported locally in 2023 and 8 in 2022.

14 overdose deaths were reported in Pulaski County last year and 6 were reported in Clinton County.

Adair, Casey, Cumberland, and Wayne counties reported fewer than 5 overdose deaths.

Statewide, overdose deaths decreased by around 30 percent.
