Man arrested after robbing Monticello gas station at gunpoint, leading police on multi-county pursuit

A Wayne County man was arrested after he reportedly robbed a Monticello gas station at gunpoint, and then led police on a multi-county pursuit ending in Adair County.

Reports are 36-year-old Christopher Eric Guinn entered the Murphy’s Fuel Station near Walmart at around 3 a.m. local time yesterday and pointed a gun at the store manager.

Officers with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and Monticello Police spotted the vehicle on the Highway 90 bypass and began a pursuit, which crossed into Clinton County and then into Cumberland County.

State Police picked up the pursuit, which continued into Adair County. Troopers were able to use spike strips and force the truck off the road on the bypass in Columbia, ending the pursuit.

Guinn faces charges of attempted murder and armed robbery in Wayne County. He also faces multiple charges by state police, including wanton endangerment of a police officer, fleeing or evading police, receiving stolen property, operating a motor vehicle under the influence, and several others.

He was lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail.
