Three new presumptive positive tests for coronavirus were confirmed in Kentucky on Thursday, bringing the total number to 11 statewide, according to state officials.
That brings the total number of confirmed cases so far to three in Lexington, two in Louisville and six in Harrison County.
The coronavirus pandemic is having tremendous consequences all across Kentucky. Here locally in Russell County, schools will close, beginning next Monday, March 16th, for at least two weeks. Also, Kentucky Chief Justice John Minton issued an Order last night, cancelling all scheduled court appearances and court dates in Kentucky, effective immediately, until April 10th. The only exceptions are emergency hearings and domestic violence hearings. Also, the Kentucky legislature adjourned yesterday afternoon until next Tuesday, March 17th, at which time a decision will be made on future legislative days. And, the Kentucky High School Athletic Association has cancelled the girls and boys state basketball tournaments for this year.
Beshear has advised businesses around the state to allow employees to work from home whenever possible, and for employers to provide adequate paid leave for employees so they don’t feel pressured to be in the office.
State prisons and similar correctional facilities have been closed indefinitely to visitors and long-term care facilities are prohibiting most visitors.
