A Clinton County man was recently convicted of multiple offenses, including sexual abuse and sodomy with the victim being under the age of 12.
31-year-old Jaywreye Phelps was convicted by a jury in Clinton Circuit Court on the charges, with the jury recommending a total of 45 years to serve for the charges.
Final sentencing on those charges is expected to take place in March in Clinton Circuit Court.
Phelps also is facing charges in Russell County. He was indicted in June of last year on a charge of assault – second degree while he was lodged in the Russell County Detention Center.
Phelps remains lodged at the Russell County Detention Center.
