Utilizing his personal time, Russell County Schools Superintendent Michael Ford was a guest on Community Conversations on WJRS earlier this week, where he was asked about Amendment 2.
Voters in Kentucky will cast a “yes” or “no” vote on Amendment 2 in this year’s election. Amendment 2, commonly referred to as the School Choice Bill, asks voters whether or not to allow the Kentucky General Assembly to “provide financial support for education costs of students in kindergarten through twelfth grade who are outside the system of common (public) schools by amending the constitution of Kentucky.”
Ford said earlier this week he has no opposition to those who choose to homeschool or send their children to a private school, but said he believes approving the amendment could result in much-needed funds being diverted from rural public schools like Russell County.
Ford also noted the various services that Russell County Schools provides.
Election Day is scheduled for Tuesday, November 5.
