Recent heavy rains have eradicated local drought conditions.
The National Weather Service in Louisville said widespread rain, especially heavy rains that hit Kentucky from the remnants of Hurricane Helene, have eradicated a lot of drought conditions around Kentucky and southern Indiana.
However, some nearby areas are experiencing abnormally dry conditions despite the recent rain.
The U.S. Drought Monitor shows portions of Cumberland and Monroe County are still experiencing abnormally dry conditions, along with a small portion of southwest Clinton County.
