The Russell County Fiscal Court held a brief special-called meeting yesterday afternoon.
The court approved a resolution to seek a grant for around $8,000 for upgrades to election equipment through the Help America Vote Act.
The court also approved moving forward with an economic impact study for a possible sports complex. Funds for a proposed sports complex off French Valley Road were included in a proposal at the federal level by Rep. James Comer, but WJRS News is told the proposal was nixed in a House subcommittee, and officials are looking at other possible grant funds.
