The Russell County Laker Football team dropped its season opener at Adair County Friday night, falling 40-0.
It was a rough opener for the Lakers, who struggled to find any offensive momentum from the opening kickoff, and struggled to contain Adair County’s offense, now under the direction of new head coach Steve Stonebreaker.
Adair County outgained Russell County 368-76 offensively.
The Lakers will go back to the drawing board as they prepare for a trip to Somerset Friday night for a matchup with the Briar Jumpers, coming off a close 22-21 loss to Perry County Central.
Kickoff from Somerset High School is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.
