Friday afternoon crash sends 2 people to RCH

A two-vehicle crash this past Friday afternoon injured both a Russell Springs man and a Jamestown woman, according to Russell County Deputy Sheriff Dustin Bunch.

Just before 4:45 p.m. Friday, Jessica Overby of Jamestown, operating a 2010 Jeep Cherokee, was traveling south on Kentucky Highway 379 approaching the Highway 832 intersection when John English of Russell Springs, driving a 2014 Dodge 1500 truck, was traveling north on Highway 379 and attempted to make a left turn on to Highway 832, turning in to the oncoming path of Overby resulting in a collision between the two vehicles.

English was transported to Russell County Hospital via ambulance. Overby was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle. English was not wearing a seat belt during the crash, which was a factor in injuries sustained, according to law enforcement.

Deputy Bunch was assisted at the scene by the Jamestown Fire Department, Russell County EMS, and Russell Springs Fire Chief Bobby Johnson.
