Russell Springs Assistant Police Chief Melissa Taylor was recognized Thursday night at the city council meeting for her 17 years of work with the Russell Springs Police Department.
Taylor recently announced her retirement after a career in law enforcement that spanned more than 36 years.
“We sure hate to lose Melissa,” Mayor Eddie Thomas said. “She’s been in police work for 36 years, so I’m sure it was time for her. Whatever she does, the City of Russell Springs wants to let her know that she’s got a home here and we greatly appreciate what she’s done for the city. On behalf of the city council and city employees, I would like to send her best wishes on her retirement. I’d also like to congratulate her and her family as she just had her first grandchild. I have grandkids of my own, and these little ones certainly make a huge difference in your life.”
