Nick Blakey finishes third at state tournament, Laker bowling team finishes top 8

On Monday the Laker Bowling Team competed in the KHSAA State Championship.

The Laker boys qualified as the #1 seed in the state as they moved into the Baker game bracket.

In the first round, they defeated Campbell County 190-149, 207-186, 207-114 to move on to the Elite 8 second round where they took on Dupont Manual.

The Lakers won the first game 188-116, but fell short losing the next 3 games 154-180, 131-193, 173-188 to end their season in the top 8 of the tournament.

In the Boys Singles event, Nick Blakey bowled a 214, 243, & 265 putting him as the #1 seed for the top 8 cut. After the next two games of 192, & 201, Nick entered the top 4 step ladder finals with an 1115 series.

In the first game of the step ladder finals, Nick defeated Darius Brown of Dupont Manual 220-211.

In the semi-final match, Nick lost to Lance Morris of Lee County 225-214 to finish in 3rd place in the state singles.
