With a 58-35 win over Cumberland County Tuesday night, the Russell County Lady Lakers have clinched a spot in the 4th Region Tournament.
This will be the Lady Lakers’ 12th consecutive appearance in the 4th Region Tournament.
Leading the way for the Lady Lakers was the senior duo of Star Marcum and Juliah Bault. Marcum and Bault finished with 22 and 16 points, respectively. The duo also combined for 10 steals in the victory.
Maleah Preston added eight points for the Lady Lakers. Rachel Bolin scored four points and Karley Antle scored three points. Hannah Yates and Jaterria Coffey finished with two points each. Sophie Shearer scored one point for the Lady Lakers.
While Shearer faced some struggles scoring, she led the team with 13 rebounds.
The Lady Lakers will take on the winner of Metcalfe County and Clinton County. That game will take place tonight at Cumberland County High School at 6 p.m.
The district championship will take place Friday night at 7 p.m. at Cumberland County.
