Hundreds of Russell County students and their families are receiving help putting food on the table through the school district’s Anchor of Hope Food Pantry.
Superintendent Michael Ford updated school board members on the program during their monthly meeting Monday evening. The pantry is operated by the district’s Family Resource Center.
Ford shared the number of households, students and individuals receiving food assistance from January first through September 30th of this year…
Ford says the pantry is a great resource for families facing unexpected financial challenges. A high electric bill, a major car repair or a parent being laid off can leave a household struggling to cover basic needs.
Ford also explained how the program is funded and who can receive assistance…
Ford encourages any family needing food assistance, with a child enrolled in a Russell County school, to contact the school district’s central office or their child’s school.
