The Columbia Police Department arrested six people Friday during a drug enforcement operation stemming from ongoing investigations into illegal drug activity in Columbia and the Adair County area.
The investigations were conducted by HIDTA Detective Ethan Pike and Officer Travis Bell. Columbia Police, Kentucky State Police DESI West and the ATF served indictment warrants on those identified during the investigations.
Those arrested were 41-year-old Daniel Burton, 41-year-old Angela Elliot, 61-year-old Rhonda Jones, 53-year-old Angela Dyer and 22-year-old Felipe Abston, all of Columbia. Each faces a drug-trafficking charge involving methamphetamine, cocaine or another controlled substance. Burton was also charged as a persistent felony offender.
Police said 49-year-old Jeffery Bailey of Columbia turned himself in and was charged with two counts of controlled-substance possession and having a prescription controlled substance outside its proper container.
Authorities say additional arrests are expected in Adair and surrounding counties as the investigations continue.
Police credited information submitted through the department’s anonymous crime-tip line, known as “Cally’s Line,” with helping identify some of those charged. Tips may be submitted by calling 270-378-2259.
