The Russell County Laker boys soccer team earned a convincing shutout victory Saturday, defeating Franklin-Simpson 3–0.
Sebastian Betts-Jimenez opened the scoring in the 15th minute off an assist from Connor Davidson.
The Lakers added two goals early in the second half. Goalkeeper Xavion Russell connected with Davidson for a goal in the 46th minute, followed three minutes later by Betts-Jimenez’s second goal of the match, assisted by Xavi Medrano.
Russell County controlled much of the match, while strong defensive play and key saves by Russell preserved the shutout.
