Thirteen-year-old Emanuel Yoder was seriously injured Saturday evening when the horse he was riding was struck by a vehicle on KY 80.
The accident occurred around 7:30 p.m. in a curve on Goose Creek Hill, approximately six miles east of Russell Springs. Yoder lives nearby on Decatur Road.
Russell County Deputy Sheriff Chad Fox told WJRS NEWS that 53-year-old John Gosser of Russell Springs was traveling westbound on KY 80 when he encountered the horse in the roadway. Yoder was thrown from the horse upon impact.
Yoder was transported by Russell County EMS to Russell County Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Gosser was not injured. The horse was seriously injured and had to be euthanized.
