Russell Springs Man Arrested on Drug Indictment, New Drug Charges Following Traffic Stop

A Russell Springs man was arrested on several drug-related charges following a traffic stop early Monday morning.

According to court records, Deputy Devin Blakey stopped a vehicle just after 12:30 a.m. at the intersection of KY 619 & Dowell Road after a vehicle registration check revealed the registered owner was wanted on an active indictment from Russell Circuit Court. The vehicle stop and ensuing investigation resulted in the arrest of 47-year-old Brian Long of Russell Springs.

Long was taken into custody on the indictment on charges of possession of methamphetamine, illegal possession of a legend drug, having a prescription-controlled substance outside its original container and no tail lamps. Long was also charged with new offenses of possession of methamphetamine and tampering with physical evidence.

Long was lodged in the Russell County Detention Center.
