The Lake Area Foundation is asking for the community’s support as it continues its mission of strengthening the Lake Cumberland region through scholarships, grants and charitable endowments.
The foundation’s annual fundraising campaign is now underway, including a live auction that helps generate funding for its work across the ten-county service area.
Speaking on behalf of the foundation, Paige Coe says while every member of the organization’s staff serves as a volunteer, there are still essential operating expenses that must be covered.
Coe says the foundation works hard to keep overhead costs as low as possible, but like everyone else, it has felt the impact of rising prices.
Other behind-the-scenes, necessary expenses include insurance and website maintenance, according to Coe.
As part of the fundraising campaign, the foundation is also accepting donations for its annual live auction.
Coe says the organization welcomes virtually any donated item, adding that a wide variety of contributions helps make the auction successful each year.
The deadline to donate auction items is August 21st.
Monetary donations may be mailed to the Lake Cumberland Area Development District, P.O. Box 1570, Russell Springs, or delivered to the ADD office at 2384 Lakeway Drive in Russell Springs, across from the Key Village Center. Coe says the foundation also hopes to begin accepting digital donations through services such as Venmo or PayPal in the near future.

Founded in 2012, the Lake Area Foundation serves the ten-county Lake Cumberland area including Russell and surrounding counties, connecting charitable giving with projects and programs that improve quality of life throughout the Lake Cumberland region.
