Several people were arrested over the weekend in Russell County on charges ranging from outstanding warrants and drug possession to traffic-related offenses.
Nineteen-year-old Gage Smith of Cynthiana was arrested Friday night by Russell County Sheriff’s Deputy Matt Parrish on a Scott County criminal complaint warrant. Smith is charged with first-degree burglary, theft by unlawful taking and criminal mischief.
Just after midnight Friday, 32-year-old Fredrick Katon of Russell Springs was taken into custody by Deputy Stone Bolin following a brief foot pursuit after a traffic stop near the intersection of Kentucky 619 and Kentucky 1680, east of Jamestown. Katon was served with two failure-to-appear warrants and is also charged with fleeing or evading police on foot.
Russell Springs Police Officer Chris Tweedy arrested 19-year-old Angel Gomez of Russell Springs on charges including no operator’s license, operating a vehicle with one headlight, no insurance, expired registration and failure to use a child restraint device.
Early Sunday morning, Deputy Stone Bolin arrested 47-year-old John Stargel of Russell Springs. Stargel is charged with no operator’s license, one headlight, expired registration, no insurance, along with possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Also early Sunday, Deputy Devin Blakey arrested 41-year-old Trenton Waymon of Jamestown on charges of driving on a DUI-suspended license and failure to produce an insurance card.
All five individuals were lodged in the Russell County Detention Center.
