The Russell County Board of Education heard an update from Superintendent Michael Ford at this week’s board meeting about the SEED Academy.
The regional agritech training center will feature 19,147 square feet of space, including labs, classrooms, an auditorium, and a livestock area.
Ford said plans are for the facility to be completed as early as February, with students occupying the building in August 2026.
Ford said multiple higher education partnerships are in the works for the new facility, aiming at giving students an opportunity to earn a bachelor’s degree in an agriculture-related field in Russell County.
The SEED Academy is located on French Valley Road.
