The Russell Springs Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire in a wooded area on Sara Lane off East Highway 80 on Friday.
Ten members of the fire department responded to the scene. They were able to control the fire in about 20 minutes.
Fire Chief Bobby Johnson reminds local residents that even small outdoor fires can grow out of control quickly when winds pick up. Local residents are reminded to use extra caution when burning outside.
The state burning rules are still in place, which prohibit burning from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
