The fiscal court in neighboring Adair County denied a proposal by the county judge-executive’s office to implement a fee pooling system for the sheriff’s office at a meeting earlier this week.
County Judge-Executive Larry Russell Bryant said auditors recommended the county implement a fee pooling system, although the sheriff’s office regularly received clean audits.
After a lengthy discussion, the fiscal court voted unanimously against implementing a fee pooling ordinance at this time. However, it was mentioned that discussions about a fee pooling system could arise again in the future as part of an ongoing discussion about the best path forward for the sheriff’s office.
