The Russell County Fiscal Court will meet in special session Wednesday morning to hold the first reading of an ordinance regarding industrial solar projects.
After hearing concerns from several local residents last week about a proposed solar project in the county, the fiscal court voted to have County Attorney Kevin Shearer draft an ordinance to put certain restrictions in place.
The ordinance is expected to include setbacks so that solar panels or battery storage systems must be at least 2,000 feet from property lines, roadways, and waterways.
The fiscal court will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Russell County Courthouse.
