The Russell County High School Lady Laker Softball team defeated Monroe County last night by a score of 12-2 in a 16th District matchup.
Nevaeh Duncan finished with a team-high 4 hits on the night, while Addy Abrell finished with 3 hits. Rylen McGowan hit her 11th home run of the season, driving in a team-high 5 runs in the game.
Brylie Hardwick earned the win in the pitchers circle, giving up just 2 runs on 3 hits while striking out 4 batters.
The Lady Lakers have a big district matchup tonight, going on the road to face Clinton County. First pitch is set for 5:30.
The middle school Lady Laker Softball team defeated Taylor County last night by a score of 6-4.
Hallie Knight and Lillian Davis each finished with 2 hits in the win. Davis drove in a team-high 3 runs. Kinsley Wilson and Molly Clark each drove in a run for the Lady Lakers as well.
Allie Bailey picked up the win pitching, giving up 4 runs on 7 hits and striking out 5.
The middle school Lady Lakers begin conference tournament play this weekend.
