The budget for the next fiscal year was unanimously approved by the Russell County Fiscal Court during this morning’s meeting. The budget for the upcoming year is set at $14,535,914.
In other business, County Judge-Executive Randy Marcum made a couple of appointments to the local Ambulance Board.
Later in the meeting, Magistrate Zach Wilson requested that the court donate $10,000 to the Eli Fire Department as part of a matching grant for a new tanker truck. After some discussion, the measure was approved by a 3-2 vote. Magistrates Terry Waddell and Zach Wilson voted in favor, while Magistrates Mickey Garner and Steve Richardson voted against. Magistrate Larry Skaggs abstained. County Judge-Executive Randy Marcum cast the tie-breaking vote to pass the measure.
