Busy April for Sheriff’s Office

The Russell County Sheriff’s Office responded to 437 calls for service last month.

Russell County Sheriff Derek Polston said the department made 38 arrests, responded to 14 domestic calls, and worked 15 traffic accidents, including 7 with injuries.

The department also responded to 16 motorist assists, 10 alarm calls, and 11 animal complaints.

Deputies performed 5 mental health transports and served 63 court papers.

In addition, the department conducted 172 vehicle inspections and issued 14 concealed carry permits.

The sheriff’s office collected $134,099.14 in county property taxes during the month.
