RSVFD contains brush fire on Chandler Lane

The Russell Springs Volunteer Fire Department was called out at around 4:30 yesterday to a report of a brush fire.

Fire crews were called to Chandler Lane, near Bernard Ridge, yesterday evening. Eight firefighters were called to the scene and were able to stop the fire from spreading to any nearby structures.

No injuries were reported. Firefighters were on scene for about 20 minutes.

Russell Springs Fire Chief Bobby Johnson is reminding the public about the statewide burning restrictions in place. During spring fire season, it is illegal to burn anything within 150 feet of any woodland or brushland between the hours of 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The burning restrictions are in place statewide through the end of April.
