Russell County splits doubleheader with Southwestern; travels to Clinton County tonight

The Lady Laker and Laker Basketball teams split a doubleheader with Southwestern Friday night.

The Lady Lakers fell to the Lady Warriors in the first game by a score of 40-34.

Addy Abrell led Russell County in scoring with 12 points, followed bye Rachel Bolin with 9 points, and Karley Luttrell with 6. Aniyah Coffey pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds.

The Lakers defeated the Warriors in the nightcap by a score of 79-57.

Owen Loy led Russell County with 27 points, followed by Mayes Gosser with 15 and Maddox Shearer with 14. Gosser also added a team-high 12 rebounds.

The Lakers and Lady Lakers will be in district action on the road tonight, going to Albany to take on Clinton County.

The Lady Lakers and Lady Bulldogs will tip off at 6 p.m. with the boys game to follow.
