Russell Springs Volunteer Fire Department responds to house fire on West 80

The Russell Springs Volunteer Fire Department responded to a house fire on West Highway 80 Thursday afternoon.

Firefighters were called out at around 3:30 Thursday afternoon to a call of a fire at a house in the 2500 block of West Highway 80.

Russell Springs Fire Chief Bobby Johnson told WJRS News 14 firefighters responded to the call where they quickly contained and extinguished the fire, which was primarily located in the kitchen area of the home.

Johnson said the quick response prevented the fire from spreading to other areas of the home.

The department was assisted on the scene by the Russell County Sheriff’s Office and South Kentucky RECC.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and no injuries were reported.
