Command Sergeant Major Olbie Giftel Foley, of Russell Springs, passed away, Saturday August 17, 2024, at his residence. He was 90 years of age.
Born February 7, 1934, in Russell County, he was a son of the late Loren and Flossie Wilson Foley. Olbie was a US Army Veteran, serving in Vietnam and earning a Bronze Star and Combat Medic Badge. He proudly served his country for over 30 years.
Survivors include three daughters, Theresa Smith, Lisa (Will) Coleman, and Donna Foley; and four grandchildren, Jason Smith, Renee (Wade) Daffron, Jennifer Stephens, and Joshua (Katina) Kershaw. Eleven great grandchildren also survive.
In addition to his parents, Olbie is preceded in death by his wife, Annelies Foley; a grandson, Michael Paul Kershaw; multiple brothers-in-law; a sister-in-law; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 12:00 PM Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Bernard Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mill Springs National Cemetery with full military honors performed by Russell County Honor Guard.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, up until the time of services.
Pallbearers are Will Coleman, Wade Daffron, Jr. Smith, Jason Smith, Josh Kershaw, and Drake Daffron.
