Controversy is brewing in neighboring Clinton County as a funding agreement between the sheriff’s office and the fiscal court is reportedly not being renewed.
Reports are that the Clinton County Fiscal Court will not renew a funding agreement with the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office. That agreement, according to the Clinton County Sheriff, was put in last year for the county to provide $26,500 to the sheriff’s office each quarter.
Clinton County Sheriff Ricky Marcum went on social media last night to state that the cut in funding would result in the loss of three positions within the department, and the sheriff’s office will no longer be able to provide 24-hour law enforcement coverage.
Marcum said he spoke to Kentucky State Police Post 15 following the decision, and the post said they’d provide the best coverage they can.
