Lady Lakers score 26 runs in first district victory of the season

The Russell County Lady Laker Softball team came away with a big victory in the first district game of the season, defeating Monroe County by a score of 26-5.

Several different players got in on the action for Russell County. Rylen McGowan, Brylie Hardwick, Addie Davis, Mallie McQueary, and Camdin Cooper each finished with 2 hits.

Hardwick drove in 7 runs for Russell County, and Cooper drove in 5. Davis and Audrie Roy each drove in 3.

Hardwick and Cooper both hit home runs in the game. It was the first of the season for Cooper and #5 on the season for Hardwick.

Addison Hart got the win pitching, giving up 5 runs on 3 hits, while striking out 8 batters.

The Lady Lakers will head to Florida for Spring Break to play in the Florida Softball Beach Bash in Fort Walton.
