Man being served warrant dies of self-inflicted gunshot wound in Pulaski County

A man in Pulaski County died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after deputies attempted to serve warrants on him.

According to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, deputies attempted to serve warrants on 46-year-old John Lloyd Lester on charges of rape and second-degree sodomy after an investigation indicated the victim was a minor.

According to reports, a deputy drove by and saw Lester, who was outside in the yard, run into the house and when a second deputy drove by, they saw Lester exit the residence with a shotgun and then heard a shot.

Initially, calls came into dispatch that the deputies had been fired at, but the sheriff’s office said Lester turned the firearm on himself.
