The Russell County Board of Education approved raises for school district employees at last night’s meeting.
The board voted unanimously to approve Superintendent Michael Ford’s recommendation of a 4 percent raise across-the-board for certified and classified staff of the school district.
WJRS News caught up with Superintendent Ford to talk about the raise approved by the school board.
Ford said during the meeting the district had to make sure raises they approved would be sustainable down the road and avoid draining the district’s contingency fund that has been built up over the last several years.
