Man accused of strangling Pulaski County Sheriff’s Deputy

A man in neighboring Pulaski County is accused of strangling a sheriff’s deputy.

According to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, 35-year-old Joshua Hardwick was arrested last week and charged with assault of a police officer, strangulation, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and alcohol intoxication in a public place.

The altercation reportedly occurred after law enforcement was called to the Pulaski County Social Security Office following a complaint of a man causing issues at the office.

Deputies with the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office encountered Hardwick outside the office, where he appeared intoxicated according to law enforcement, and he was placed under arrest.

When deputies attempted to put the handcuffs on Hardwick, he attacked the deputy, striking him in the face and then jumping on top of him and choking him.

A security officer from the social security office was able to assist and Hardwick was placed under arrest, and Hardwick was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.
