Sheriff’s Office adjusting with staff changes

The Russell County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to adjust to be able to move forward with its mission to serve the public.

The sheriff’s department recently lost two deputies in the last week with the departures of Nathan Ginn and Ron Golden.

What led to those departures is unclear, as all parties involved have declined to comment on the matter at this time.

With those changes, the sheriff’s department now has seven deputies on staff, with two of those being school resource officers.

Fluctuation in staffing is a common issue with law enforcement agencies across the country.

Recent studies show 80 percent or more of law enforcement agencies nationwide face staffing shortages.
